Skanna — iOS app & platform

Effective date: 24 August 2026 (replaces the version of 12 July 2026)

Who we are

Skanna ("Skanna", "the app") is developed and published by Skanna OÜ ("we", "us"), a company registered in Estonia under registry code 17576052, at Jõe tn 3-313, 10151 Tallinn, Estonia. Skanna OÜ is the data controller for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. This policy covers the Skanna iOS app, this website (skanna.site), and the Skanna Web platform.

Part 1 — The Skanna iOS app

Data we collect

None. We do not collect any personal data, usage data, analytics, identifiers, or diagnostics. No information about you or your use of the app is ever sent to us or to any third party. The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

What the app accesses on your device, and why

To do its job, Skanna asks for the following iOS permissions. Everything accessed through them is processed and stored on your device only:

• Camera and LiDAR sensor — used to capture 3D scans of your spaces. Scan imagery and depth data are processed on-device to build your 3D models.
• Location (while using the app) — used to tag your scan sites on the map so you can find them again. Site coordinates are saved only in the app's local storage.
• Photo library — used only when you choose to attach photos to a site or save images. The app accesses only the items you pick.

You can decline or revoke any of these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app. The related features will simply be unavailable.

Where your content is stored

All scans, 3D models, photos, panoramas, notes, and site information are stored locally in the app's private storage on your device (and in your device backups, if you have iCloud or local backups enabled — those backups are governed by Apple's terms, not ours). We have no access to any of it.

Deleting a scan or site in the app deletes its files from the app's storage. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device.

Sharing and exporting

Skanna lets you export scans, models, and site archives (for example as GLB, OBJ, USDZ, or ZIP files) using the standard iOS share sheet. Sharing happens only when you initiate it, and the data goes only to the destination you choose. We are not involved in, and have no visibility into, anything you share.

Internet connection

Skanna works fully offline. The app does not upload your content or any other data to our servers or anyone else's. Map imagery on the site map is provided by Apple Maps (MapKit), which operates under Apple's privacy policy.

Part 2 — This website and the Skanna platform

The interest list

If you join the interest list on this site, we store what you enter in the form: your email address and, if you provide them, your name, company, country, what you work on, and your note. We use this only to contact you about Skanna's launch and early-access offers (legal basis: your consent, GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can leave the list at any time by emailing us, and we will delete your entry.

Skanna Web accounts

Skanna Web (our browser-based authoring and hosting platform) requires an account. For account holders we store:

• Account details — your email address, name, and company, plus your password in hashed form (we never see the password itself).
• Subscription state — your plan, its status, and billing references, so we can decide what your account may do.
• Your content — the projects, models, images, and other files you choose to upload or publish. You control this content: you can delete it in the app, and share links you create can be revoked at any time.

We process this to provide the service you signed up for (legal basis: performance of a contract, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Accounts and their content are deleted on request and when the relationship ends, except records we must keep for accounting law.

Business contacts

If you correspond with us, trial the platform, or do business with us, we keep normal business records about the relationship: your name, work contact details, company, and notes of our interactions and agreements (legal basis: performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in managing business relationships, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)). You can ask at any time what we hold about you, have it corrected, or — where no legal ground requires keeping it — have it deleted.

Who processes this data for us

We do not sell or share your data. It is processed on our behalf, under GDPR data-processing agreements, by: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Cloudflare (serving the Skanna Web application and DNS), GitHub (hosting this website), and Google Workspace (email and internal documents). This website and Skanna Web use no advertising and no third-party analytics; Skanna Web stores your session token in your own browser's storage so you stay signed in — that is not tracking.

Children

Skanna is a professional tool and is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)

For any personal data we hold about you — your interest-list entry, your account, or our business records — you have the right to access it, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Email us and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; ours is the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, aki.ee). The iOS app itself collects nothing, so for app-only users there is nothing for us to hold.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's App Store release notes.
